The Role

We are hiring a Python backend engineer who can design, build, and own reliable systems.

This is not a role where you just write endpoints and move on. You will work on backend services, APIs, data flows, integrations, background processing, and production reliability with strong ownership from day one.

What You Will Own

• Design and build scalable backend systems using Python
• Build and maintain REST APIs using FastAPI or Django
• Design database schemas and write efficient queries using PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Implement background processing and async workflows such as queues and workers
• Improve system performance, reliability, and observability
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code with strong validation practices
• Own features end to end from technical planning to deployment
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions

Must Have Skills

• 3+ years of hands-on backend development experience in Python
• Strong fundamentals in backend architecture and system design
• Experience building RESTful APIs using FastAPI, Django, or Flask
• Strong database knowledge with PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Experience working with ORMs such as SQLAlchemy or Django ORM
• Understanding of async programming and performance trade-offs
• Experience writing unit and integration tests
• Comfortable with Git and collaborative development workflows

Preferred: Agentic Coding Experience

We strongly prefer candidates who have used agentic coding workflows in real projects, not just for snippets.

• Experience using tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Windsurf, or similar to ship production code
• Comfortable with AI-assisted workflow including planning, implementation, refactoring, testing, and review
• Strong judgment in validating AI-generated code with proper testing and review
• Ability to create clear prompts or specifications and use AI to accelerate debugging and refactoring
• Bonus if you have experience building agentic systems such as tool calling, structured schemas, or evaluation workflows

Bonus Skills

• Docker and containerized deployments
• AWS or GCP familiarity
• Redis and caching strategies
• Background job systems or event-driven architectures
• Experience integrating AI or LLM APIs
• Experience in a startup or product-first environment
