QA Engineer

Overview

Role Summary

We are seeking a versatile and thorough QA Engineer who is equally adept at Manual Testing and Automation Testing. You will play a critical role in our software development lifecycle by designing robust test plans, executing exploratory manual tests for complex scenarios, and building scalable automated test suites.

In this role, you will split your time between ensuring the quality of new features through hands-on manual testing and developing automated scripts to increase our regression testing coverage and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Strategy & Planning: Review system specifications and user stories to create comprehensive test plans and test cases that cover both manual and automated testing strategies.
• Manual Test Execution: Perform functional, integration, usability, and exploratory testing across web and mobile platforms to uncover edge cases and ensure a seamless user experience.
• Automation Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test scripts and frameworks for UI and API testing.
• CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test suites into continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure rapid and reliable releases.
• Defect Management: Identify, isolate, document, and track bugs clearly using issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira), and verify fixes provided by the development team.
• Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, and designers to shift testing left, ensuring quality is baked in from the initial design phase.
• Test Maintenance: Continuously review and update both manual test cases and automated scripts to reflect changing product requirements and to minimize flaky tests.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 2 - 4 years of proven experience in software testing, with a strong, balanced background in both Manual and Automation Testing.
• Automation Tools: Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Puppeteer).
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in writing automated tests using programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or C#.
• API Testing: Solid experience testing APIs manually (e.g., using Postman) and automating API tests (e.g., REST Assured, Axios).
• QA Methodology: Deep understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes within Agile/Scrum environments.
• Bug Tracking & Version Control: Proficiency with defect tracking software (e.g., Jira) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively report issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (The "Plus" Points)

• Performance Testing: Familiarity with load and performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6, or Gatling).
• Cloud Infrastructure: Exposure to cloud testing environments like BrowserStack or Sauce Labs, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of SQL for database validation, test data setup, and data integrity testing.
