Role Overview
The Lead SQL Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-level SQL queries, procedures, and data models.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires deep expertise in SQL programming, data warehousing concepts, and performance tuning, combined with the ability to mentor junior developers and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

The Lead SQL Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise-level SQL queries, procedures, and data models.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires deep expertise in SQL programming, data warehousing concepts, and performance tuning, combined with the ability to mentor junior developers and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Key Development & Data Engineering
- Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views.
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows to support data integration and transformation processes.
- Build and manage data models, data dictionaries, and schema designs for structured databases.
- Collaborate with BI, analytics, and application development teams to deliver efficient data solutions.
- Analyze and troubleshoot slow-performing queries and implement performance improvements.
- Use indexing, partitioning, and best practices to optimize database performance.
- Conduct regular query profiling, execution plan analysis, and load testing.
- Lead and mentor a team of SQL/database developers, promoting clean code practices and technical excellence.
- Participate in requirement gathering and technical solution design with stakeholders.
- Own delivery timelines, ensure data quality, and manage release cycles.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies, including data masking, encryption, and role-based access.
- Maintain data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across environments.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation, including ER diagrams, data flow diagrams, and code repositories.
- Enforce coding standards, naming conventions, and version control practices.
- SQL (Advanced Level) Complex joins, subqueries, window functions, stored procedures, triggers
- RDBMS Platforms Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle
- ETL Tools SSIS, Talend, Apache NiFi, or similar
- Data Warehousing Snowflake, Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Azure Synapse
- Performance Tuning Execution plans, indexing, partitioning, database optimization
- Version Control Git, Bitbucket
- Cloud Platforms Azure SQL, AWS RDS, GCP BigQuery
- NoSQL Databases MongoDB, Cassandra (as per use case)
- Scripting Languages Python, Shell scripting for automation
- BI/Reporting Tools Power BI, Tableau, Looker (for integration knowledge)
- DevOps/DataOps Concepts CI/CD pipelines, automated testing for data workflows
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 58 years of relevant experience in SQL/database development and data engineering.
- Proven experience leading SQL development projects and mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
