SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF)
Overview
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on our world? Do you thrive in a collaborative team environment built on mutual respect and integrity? Are you experienced in managing technical projects and eager to enhance the safety and reliability of AI systems in the country? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at SaveLIFE Foundation.
About SaveLIFE Foundation
SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF) is an award-winning, independent non-profit organization committed to saving lives on roads across India and the Global South. By combining grassroots action with systems reform, SLF has been at the forefront of introducing landmark road safety innovationssuch as Indias Good Samaritan Law and the Zero-Fatality Corridor (ZFC) model. Our work has helped reduce road crash deaths by up to 67% on some of Indias most dangerous highways and has been recognized by institutions such as the Skoll Foundation, World Bank, and Government of India.
At SLF, we believe that road crashes are not accidentsthey are preventable tragedies. We are on a mission to prove that loss of life on roads is not a price we must pay for mobility.
Join us to help scale this mission.
About The Role
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Data Engineer to join our AI/ML team. You will have hands-on experience building the data pipelines that power our Large Language Model (LLM) systems, with a focus on Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), data labeling, and feature extraction. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining the robust data architectures that enable intelligent search, chat interfaces, and feedback loops in our production environments.

- Manage data ingestion, transformation, and storage from multiple structured and unstructured sources.
- Work closely with ML and prompt engineers to prepare data for finetuning and retrieval systems.
- Build and maintain vector stores (e.g., FAISS, Weaviate, Pinecone) for embedding-based retrieval.
- Implement feature extraction techniques from text, audio, or other data forms.
- Collaborate in chatbot development, handling user interaction data and intent recognition workflows.
- Develop tools and frameworks for efficient data labeling, versioning, and quality control.
- Optimize and monitor the performance of data infrastructure and contribute to scaling LLM applications.
- Ensure data security, compliance, and quality standards are maintained across all systems.
- A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in data engineering or a similar domain.
- Strong Python development skills, with proficiency in libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and Pydantic.
- Demonstrable experience working with RAG architectures : text chunking, embedding models (e.g., OpenAI, HuggingFace), and vector databases.
- Familiarity with LLM frameworks like LangChain, Haystack, or LlamaIndex.
- Experience with data labeling platforms (e.g., Label Studio, Prodigy) or custom annotation workflows.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs (FastAPI or Flask).
- Proficiency with version control (Git), containerization (Docker), and data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect).
- Understanding of chatbot frameworks (e.g., Rasa, Dialogflow) is a plus.
