Scrum Master Job Description

Job Title: Scrum Master

Reports to: PMO Lead

Location: Bengaluru, India (Hybrid) or Remote within India

Team: Project Management Office (PMO)

Employment Type: Full-time

About The Role

We’re hiring a Scrum Master to support the growth and maturity of Agile practices across our software development teams. Based in our India office, this role will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and UX Design to ensure our product delivery cycles are focused, iterative, and grounded in shared understanding.

This isn’t about enforcing ceremony—it’s about removing blockers, promoting clarity, and enabling continuous improvement. The Scrum Master is responsible for supporting high-performance Agile teams, championing best practices, and creating an environment where product and engineering teams can ship value to donors faster and more effectively.

Who You Are

You lead by support, not control. Your strength lies in helping others succeed, removing blockers, and building team trust through clear guidance and collaboration. You are passionate about Agile—not as a rigid set of rules, but as a toolkit for enabling team success. You bring calm, clarity, and structure to fast-moving, complex projects. You know how to coach individuals and guide teams without micromanaging. You can spot when a team is getting stuck—and you know how to unlock momentum without creating extra meetings or process bloat.

You’re deeply collaborative, culturally aware, and comfortable working with cross-functional teams across time zones. You’re also at home in tools like JIRA, Confluence, and other project management staples and understand how they support meaningful workflows—not just documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate Agile ceremonies & rituals

  • Guide daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews, ensuring they’re efficient and valuable
  • Foster a shared sense of accountability, purpose, and focus within teams
  • Help teams estimate work realistically and manage scope within sprints

Support delivery and unblock teams

  • Identify and resolve delivery impediments, working closely with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and the PMO
  • Track team health, velocity, and dependencies to improve predictability
  • Champion sustainable pace and delivery practices, reducing burnout and chaos

Coach teams on Agile best practices

  • Support the adoption and evolution of Scrum and hybrid Agile practices appropriate to our context
  • Coach individuals on backlog hygiene, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Help new team members integrate into Agile workflows and team norms

Promote alignment and visibility

  • Ensure that Epics, User Stories, and Tasks are clearly defined, connected to broader strategic goals, and updated in JIRA
  • Partner with Product, Engineering and UX Design to connect day-to-day work with Themes and strategic outcomes
  • Help maintain dashboards and reporting to give leadership real-time visibility into delivery

Collaborate across time zones and functions

  • Work closely with Canadian teams to ensure handoffs, priorities, and timelines are aligned
  • Foster a strong feedback loop between design, product, engineering, QA, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of PMO practices and workflows

What Success Looks Like

  • Agile teams have strong momentum, clear goals, and high delivery velocity
  • Sprint rituals are focused, energizing, and respected by team members
  • Blockers are surfaced and resolved quickly, without drama or delays
  • Product delivery is visible, iterative, and aligned with company priorities
  • Agile practices evolve to fit the team’s maturity, culture, and needs
  • Teams feel supported—not managed—in delivering their best work

Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or delivery lead in a tech environment
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, especially Scrum and hybrid approaches (Agile/Lean/XP)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, UX, QA)
  • Expertise in JIRA and Confluence; experience managing workflows, boards, reports
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable navigating time zone differences and working asynchronously
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe, or equivalent certification preferred

Experience

  • 11-12 Years

Skills

  • Primary Skill: Scrum Master (SE)
  • Sub Skill(s): Scrum Master (SE)
  • Additional Skill(s): Active Reports, Agile Software Development, JIRA, Scrum Master (SA), Scrum Master (DXP)
