Overview
We're looking for a SQL-first, performance-driven Data Engineer to join our growing tech team in Mumbai. You’ll own the design, tuning, and scaling of OLTP/OLAP systems—driving high availability, reliability, and data integrity across our platforms.
What You'll Do:
- Design, implement, and maintain database schemas for OLTP and OLAP systems
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries
- Advanced joins and aggregations
- Perform query performance tuning using EXPLAIN plans, indexing, and execution profiling
- Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, constraints, and data validation rules
- Configure and tune database systems for: Memory and storage engine optimization, Connection pooling, Query caching
- Monitor database health and performance: Disk I/O, memory usage, query locks, and contention analysis
- Manage and maintain relational databases: MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB (self-hosted and cloud-native)
- Administer cloud database services: Amazon RDS, Aurora, and MongoDB on EC2
- Set up and manage replication (master-slave, multi-region) and clustering (e.g., MySQL Group Replication)
- Implement failover strategies and ensure high availability
- Enforce data governance practices: Schema versioning, Change management, Data retention, Auditing and access logging
- Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to support application performance and scalability
- Prioritize uptime, recoverability, and data consistency in all operations
- Embrace SQL-first and performance-oriented thinking in data layer design
- Proactively identify and resolve data integrity issues, including deduplication and constraint management
Optional but Valuable:
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform for RDS provisioning)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for databases (e.g., Flyway, Liquibase, Alembic)
- Exposure to NoSQL databases such as Cassandra
- Automation of DB setup and deployments via scripting

What We’re Looking For:
- 3–7 years of experience as a Database Engineer or in a similar role
- Strongexperience with database management systems and command over SQL
- Experience with cloud-native and self-hosted database architectures
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred)
