Overview
DescriptionAmazon is seeking a Data Engineer to provide data engineering services and solutions to enable programs to scale with Amazon’s growth and complexity. This is a highly visible opportunity to provide custom-build solutions and services that will increase the productivity of Amazon’s analytical capability to scale through data.
In this role, you will be a technical expert that will build datasets that Security Engineers, Scientists, and Analysts will utilize to generate actionable insights; with a scope that spans all of Amazon’s Consumer businesses, Amazon Web Services, and Amazon subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will be an expert in sourcing semi-structured and complex data types and normalizing them into consumable data products that are accessible for other users. Our team maintains an infrastructure that supports changing data needs. This requires data engineering problem solving to build high quality, reliable, accurate, consistent, and architecturally sound data solutions that are aligned with our business objectives.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and deliver big data solutions providing access to large datasets
- Collaborate with security engineers to design datasets and queries that will evaluate internal infrastructure for security posture, hygiene, and vulnerabilities.
- Automate Data ingestion through APIs, data pipelines or other applicable means, making data products sets readily-consumable by other teams and various internal applications, building notification systems
- Create automated alarming and dashboards to monitor data integrity and data quality
- Act as the subject matter expert for best practices in the data engineering space with emphasis in security and infrastructure analysis.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience mentoring team members on best practices
- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience operating large data warehouses
