Senior Database Administrator (DBA) – AWS Cloud, Oracle & PostgreSQL
What you will contribute:
The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) will support MoneyGram's customers, stakeholders, partners, staff and overall business strategy through the servicing and management of its technological resources. The incumbent will participate in projects and create/maintain documentation for use by engineers and operations teams. The incumbent will also work with other team members to design and build environments to proper standards with associated documentation and processes, while also serving as a level of escalation by assisting the operational support of environments. The incumbent will partner with our key infrastructure and support teams to assist with code deployments, performance monitoring and troubleshooting, upgrade and migration strategies, and maintaining a highly available and performant environment.
What you will get to do:
- Design and build technology environments to proper standards with associated documentation and processes and aligned to business requirements. This includes leading and managing projects in adherence with the PMO framework, participating in vendor management, creating/maintaining documentation, and helping to create standards and documentation.
- Develop and report metrics and KPIs as appropriate.
- Gather requirements from end-users and other key stakeholders to ensure that existing and new technology solutions are in alignment with business needs and Enterprise Architecture defined technology capabilities.
- Partner with Enterprise Architects to determine future needs; participate in planning sessions with Technology Lifecycle Managers to determine how to meet future requirements.
- Utilize best practice for how products should be prepared before they are released to production.
- Within this process, be accountable for working with Technology Operations and defining installation, configuration, and provision processes and standards, as well as types of instrumentation required to administer, monitor performance, and troubleshoot problems; all with stability in mind.
- Perform maintenance and patching of vendor supplied systems.
- Partner with Application Development teams on common projects and goals. This may include, but not limited to: deployment and management of appropriate components through the SDM lifecycle, optimization for specific platforms and physical configurations, performance tuning, and oversight of deployment into each environment.
- Assist Operations to analyze data related to supported systems (including critical events), and make recommendations.
- Provide on-call support as an escalation point from level 2 Operations teams or in SEV1 situations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
Education
- Minimum required: Bachelors' degree.
Experience
- 5-7 years' Technology Operations and/or Engineering experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- 5-7 years' proven customer service experience, and must communicate clearly, courteously and professionally in person and over the phone.
- 5+ years of experience as a DBA with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- 3+ years of direct experience working with AWS Cloud services relevant to databases (RDS, EC2, S3, etc.).
- Proven experience in end-to-end database migration projects, including heterogeneous migrations (e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL).
- Exceptional experience with Oracle recovery scenarios, backups, Oracle HA/RAC, Oracle data guard, ASM, SQL scripting, Performance and Tuning, OEM, and MOS problem resolution.
- Experience with MySQL and SQL SERVER is a plus.
- Additional experience that would be beneficial include Oracle eBusiness Suite, Oracle Revenue Management and Billing.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, pgSQL, indexing strategies, query tuning, and schema design.
- Familiarity with AWS-native tools for database migration (e.g., AWS DMS, Schema Conversion Tool).
- Strong understanding of data replication, backup/recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

- In-depth understanding of the criticality of existing environments when leading/managing projects, software and/or hardware as it relates to the business needs, customers, partners and staff.
- Knowledge of the inputs and outputs associated with the data, software and/or hardware technology.
- In depth knowledge of the technology this position represents, including all aspects/activities required to maintain system stability and optimal performance.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Availability to participate in on-call support as an escalation point from Technology Operations or in high-severity incident situations.
- Fluent/bilingual communication skills in English.

Location: This position is based in India. While this is a remote flexible role it is required to reside in this country.
