Senior Java Backend Developer

At Tohands, we’re empowering 30 million shopkeepers in India with smart financial tools that help them make and save money. Our flagship product, the Tohands Smart Calculator, replaces the traditional calculator, combining calculations, billing, payments, and audio payment confirmation into one must-have device. Integrated with our app, it also offers easy ledger management. We're now scaling our backend infrastructure to bring this solution to millions of shopkeepers across the country.

Compensation : 30 LPA + ESOPs

Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional experience as a software engineer or developer.
• Strong expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs using Spring Boot
• Strong familiarity with Git and CI/CD.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with AWS services.
• Extensive knowledge of testing at various levels, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Proficiency in working with databases (SQL).
• Practical experience with Docker for containerization.
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and designing technical solutions.
• Keen attention to detail when developing and implementing solutions.
• Ability to simplify and clearly explain complex technical issues.
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and deployment environments.
• Experience with logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana. AWS Cloudwatch)

Nice to have:

• Experience working with microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with MQTT protocol.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes for orchestration.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and running production-grade systems with medium to large-scale users (50k+ users).
• Expertise in AWS, including services like EC2, S3, Route 53, CloudFront, SNS, SQS, API Gateway, ELB, and EBS.
• Background in the finance or payments domain.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze product requirements for feasibility and develop detailed technical specifications and designs from user stories.
• Contribute to design and code reviews to ensure high-quality standards.
• Actively participate in development tasks, including bug fixing and enhancements.
• Track and report technical progress, identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies in a timely manner.
• Lead critical proof of concepts (POCs) and feasibility studies to ensure viability of new features or technologies.
