- Learn and gain in-depth knowledge of various software products and testing methodologies of the organization
- Get involved in analyzing requirements (epics and stories) during the requirements analysis phase of projects
- Identify the gaps and clarifications in requirements, bring it to the notice of Lead, Product Owner and ensure to track the findings to closure
- Keep track of any new requirements / changes during the process of requirements understanding and clarification process
- Document, implement, monitor, and enforce all processes and procedures for testing the product / project are established as per standards defined
- Write detailed test cases to ensure optimal test coverage of software product features; Prepare traceability matrix to validate the test coverage
- Understand product specification and verify if product behaves as expected across releases in multiple environments
- Review the test deliverables produced by other team members and enter the review findings in the defect management tool identified for the project
- Methodically document steps which exhibit a problem and can reproduce and communicate these steps
- Track and report upon testing activities, including testing results, test case coverage, required resources, defects discovered and their status, etc.,
- Ability to analyze a specific problem reported, identify the root cause and generate a detailed report
- Interact with team leader on project status and resolution of critical issues; Promptly escalate unresolved dependencies and issues
- Analytically driven: Comfortable with critically analyzing stories (both functional and non-functional) Use standard methodologies to do analysis and to understand the requirement
- Self-sufficient: Thinks like a customer - capable of designing customer scenarios and executing them independently
- Personal accountability: Design Thinking - comfortable and willing to identify effective test design issues and suggests more effective methods and techniques for test design
- Quality focused: Capable of testing enough to ensure quality
- Identifies and creates the right & optimal test combinations and creates test data accordingly
- Develops team: Teaches junior QA engineers' effective ways of designing test cases and embracing common test design principles
- Effective communicator: Capable of clearly articulating bugs, blockers, ideas or requirement clarifications. Writes and speaks clearly expressing their thoughts and ideas; Clear and effective communication in Show & tell meetings backed up by good preparation and presentation
- Strong team player: Finding bugs in developer’s code and clearly expressing it while still maintaining a positive relationship with developers. Consistently embracing a communication style that does not make developers feel blamed
- Drives best practices: Leverages knowledge gained to promote best practices both within his/her work and with others in the team
- Functional thinker: Shows at least a basic understanding of related functional & domain knowledge they don’t specialize in
- Strong product ownership: Passionate about the feature or product they’re building from both functional and customer perspective.
- Calls out any issues noticed immediately and proposes solutions to PO and team
- Self-starter: Track record of managing their own workload and identifying problems to work on
- Elaboration and deep-thinking skills: Can comfortably spec the functionality for medium and large stories independently to the satisfaction of product owner, and write well-defined functional specification
- Good mentor: Leverages wide breadth of functional and product knowledge to help other team members create more cohesive work
- Strong functional knowledge: Has deep knowledge across all functionalities of the product. Able to effectively communicate with team members across all layers of the functional stack of the product
- Valued and admired by junior QA engineers for the mentorship, critical thinking abilities, functional knowledge & people development qualities
Must
- Bachelor's degree with 7-9 years of work experience in software testing lifecycle working as part of a team
- Graphics arts knowledge for Printing industry
- Good analytical skills and self-initiative to learn new testing methodologies and techniques
- Ability to work as part of a global team with good communication skills (written and spoken English)
- Hands-on experience of Test management tools, Writing and executing SQL Queries
- Test automation knowledge is desirable
