Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join our team on a part-time basis, dedicating approximately 4 hours per day. The primary responsibility will be to refactor and optimize the backend code of our inventory management application to enhance performance and reduce computational and database costs. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java Spring Boot, MySQL, and AWS infrastructure, with a focus on writing efficient, scalable, and maintainable code.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and refactor the existing backend codebase of our inventory management application to address performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
Optimize database queries and interactions to reduce server and database costs.
Collaborate with the team to implement best practices for clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
Ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure on AWS ECS and RDS.
Conduct code reviews and provide recommendations for improving code quality and performance.
Document code changes and optimizations for future reference.
Required Qualifications
4–5 years of professional experience as a software developer, with a focus on backend development.
Strong proficiency in Java Spring Boot for building and refactoring RESTful APIs and backend services.
Extensive experience with MySQL, including query optimization, indexing, and database design.
Hands-on experience with AWS ECS and AWS RDS for deploying and managing applications in a cloud environment.
Proven track record of optimizing backend systems to reduce computational and database costs.
Familiarity with best practices for code refactoring, including modular design, performance tuning, and scalability.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively for a part-time commitment of ~4 hours per day.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with performance profiling tools and techniques for identifying bottlenecks in Java applications.
Knowledge of containerized environments and orchestration (e.g., Docker, AWS ECS).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Understanding of inventory management systems or similar enterprise applications.
Work Arrangement
Part-Time: Approximately 4 hours per day, with flexibility to align with team schedules.
Remote: Fully remote position, with occasional virtual meetings for collaboration.
Contract Duration: 3 months (can be extended on performance basis).
