Senior Software Engineer (COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2)

About this role:

• Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer.

In this role, you will:

• Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
• Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
• Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
• Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
• Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
• Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
• Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Job Expectations:

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
• Analyze and resolve technical issues related to mainframe applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Develop and execute unit tests to ensure the quality of the code.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Document technical specifications and maintain up-to-date documentation for all projects.

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
• Good to have knowledge/experience on Easytrieve, MQ, REXX, Store Procedures.
• Proficiency in mainframe tools such as TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and File-AID.
• Experience with mainframe batch processing and online transaction processing.
• Knowledge of mainframe utilities and debugging tools.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
