VIAVI is expanding its engineering team in Bangalore and seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Web UI to design and deliver intuitive, high-performance, and scalable user interfaces for our industry-leading networking and cloud test solutions.

In this role, you will collaborate with product managers, backend engineers, and UX designers to build responsive, interactive, and reliable web applications that simplify complex systems and empower customers with actionable insights. As a senior contributor, you will also help set best practices, mentor peers, and drive innovation in modern UI frameworks and tools. Job Responsibilities:

UI Development

• Build responsive, interactive, and scalable user interfaces using modern web frameworks.
• Ensure applications deliver excellent performance, usability, and reliability.
  
  

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with product owners, backend engineers, and UX designers to deliver the best end-to-end solutions.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and feature enhancements for existing systems.
  
  

Quality & Best Practices

• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and documented code.
• Continuously improve development workflows through peer collaboration, mentorship, and code reviews.
• Contribute to the adoption of engineering best practices across the team.
  
  

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in web application development.
  
  

Core Technical Skills

• Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript (ES6+).
• Expertise in ReactJS, Redux, Redux Saga, with experience in frameworks such as Next.js, Angular, or Vue.
• Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Material UI, Tailwind, SASS/LESS).
• Proficiency with modern JavaScript tooling (Webpack, Babel, Storybook).
• Experience building progressive, responsive, and single-page applications (PWA, RWA, SPA).
  
  

Testing & Quality

• Proficiency in unit testing frameworks (Jest, Enzyme, React Testing Library).
• Familiarity with UI test automation tools (Selenium, TestCafé).
  
  

Systems & Integration

• Experience integrating with REST APIs and working with XML/JSON.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and OOP.
• Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and messaging/streaming platforms (Kafka, ZeroMQ).
  
  

DevOps & Tools

• Strong experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with virtualization, containers, Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps workflows.
  
  

Nice to Have

• Backend development experience (e.g., Node.js, Golang).
• Exposure to UI charting libraries.
  
  

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate in cross-functional, team-oriented environments.
