We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our NIOS team, reporting to the senior director of Engineering, who is located in California. In this role, you will develop features for our next-generation DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) services. You will use your experience and creativity to influence technology direction and decisions, while ensuring that our products are best-of-breed. What you’ll do:
- Define architecture roadmap, technical evaluation of architecture, direct the best practices in technology adoption, and continuously evaluate better technological solutions
- Play a critical role in setting the direction and goals for developing features for Infoblox’s next-generation DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) services
- Develop and maintain container infrastructure for internal and product needs
- Translate requirements from customers, program management, and other sources into functional and design specifications
- Review code submissions from other engineers and provide constructive feedback with the aim to keep a high bar for software quality
- Design and develop software for Enterprise & Service Provider solutions using C, Linux, and Python
- Develop and maintain unit and functional tests for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment in a modern CI/CD environment
- Work in an Agile/Scrum development methodology to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test
- Work closely with peer engineers in a highly collaborative environment
- Benchmark, optimize, and fine-tune software performance
- Collaborate with QA to investigate and fix defects
- Handle customer escalations and debug issues
- Investigate CVE security and compliance issues
- Participate in hardware development and integration issues
- Minimum 15 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or 13 years and a master's degree, or a PhD with 10 years of experience; or equivalent work experience with proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale software projects
- Ability to investigate and quickly learn new technologies
- Exceptional Linux systems programming background and knowledge of Linux kernel and OS internals
- In depth working knowledge of make, maintaining libraries, and dependencies for large projects
- In-depth working knowledge of Linux platform services, performance analysis, and kernel-level debugging using gdb and other tools
- A solid understanding of networking concepts, such as DNS, DHCP, OSPF, BGP, IPv6, and IPv4 protocols
- Experience with x86_64 based processors and system architectures
- Exceptional development and problem-solving skills are required
- Experience with analyzing security patch vulnerabilities for Linux based systems
- Experience in microservices architecture and container-based software using Docker and other container technologies
- Experience with public cloud services, including AWS, GCP, Azure, Azure Stack Hub, and OCI
- Experience with Private cloud services, including Openstack/KVM, VMware, HyperV, Nutanix, and Openshift
- Experience in Agile methodologies with software development life-cycle experience
- Previous experience with git, github, and Jira
After six months, you will…
- Understand key functionalities of the core NIOS/vNIOS platforms
- Contribute and participate in analyzing, providing root cause analysis, and solutions for NIOS issues
- Provide technical leadership for the NIOS product development, while mentoring and guiding the junior engineers
- Play a major role in analyzing, designing, delivering, and maintaining NIOS product
