Senior Staff Software Engineer, Spanner Technical Lead

Overview

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
• 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

• Experience with distributed systems concepts, data replication, consistency models, and fault tolerance.
• Experience with database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers to design, develop, and deploy new Spanner features and enhancements. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to ensure quality software development.
• Architect and design scalable, reliable systems that meet the needs of Spanner's growing customer base. Make data decisions to optimize system performance.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, analyze performance bottlenecks, and develop innovative solutions to address customer issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues effectively.
• Stay abreast of the trends in cloud database technology and drive innovation within the Spanner team. Propose and implement new features that enhance Spanner's capabilities and differentiate it from participants.
