Overview
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive System Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, ensure optimal system performance, and support business operations by delivering reliable, scalable, and secure IT solutions. The Senior System Administrator will play a key role ensuring information systems within each India office run as efficiently as possible. The incumbent will be the first point of contact for all Level 1 and Level 2 issues related to system outages and end user support.
Key Responsibilities
- System Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain servers, hardware, and software.
- Network Management: Monitor and manage network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Security: Implement and maintain security policies, perform system audits, and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Ensure the security, availability, and reliability of MIS infrastructure.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement MIS strategies that align with organizational objectives. Recommend technology upgrades and system improvements.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and manage backup systems, ensuring data integrity and availability in case of disasters.
- User Support: Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
- Upgrades: Research, recommend, and implement system upgrades and new technologies to improve efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and processes.
- Propose solutions: Identify inefficiencies in current systems and processes and propose solutions for improvement.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflows and improve system usability.
- Manage vendors: Maintain and manage relationships with software and hardware vendors.
- Negotiate contracts: Track, manage and negotiate contracts and service level agreements.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, macOS).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Experience with system security, firewalls, and backup/recovery solutions.
- Excellent communication skills
- Project Management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Server+, or Cisco CCNA.
- Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Experience in managing databases and enterprise applications.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
