As part of Vestas Technology & Operations, the Modelling & Analytics - Plant Reporting, Optimization & Control (PROC) team is responsible for delivering live data streaming, real-time alarms, plant-level analytics, KPI reporting, forecasting, availability calculations, curtailment control, and dispatch-logic services used across Vestas and by customers worldwide.

Responsibilities

Backend Engineering & System Development

• Develop and maintain backend microservices using Python (FastAPI or equivalent)
• Build scalable APIs and event-driven components
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases as part of the core application stack
• Ensure code quality, modularity, and maintainability
  
  

Architecture, Design & Migration

• Participate in the evolution of backend services toward Azure and cloud-agnostic architectures, while supporting migration activities from AWS
• Work with architects to design modern, distributed backend systems aligned with our long-term architecture and platform goals
• Participate in architectural reviews and contribute to establishing best practices for scalable, resilient service design
• Support POCs and spike solutions related to Azure Functions, Event Hub, CosmosDB, Kubernetes (AKS) and hybrid cloud patterns
  
  

Collaboration & Stakeholder Interaction

• Work closely with Product Managers, Architects, and Data Engineering teams on feature design
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies
• Support L3 operational issues and resolve production workload problems when required
  
  

Required experience

• 5-7 years of direct experience designing and implementing backend services
• Advanced proficiency in Python, including REST API development, asynchronous programming patterns, and modular architecture
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and managing microservices
• Proficient in relational databases (PostgreSQL) and exposure to cloud-based NoSQL datastores (document and key-value stores)
• Proficient in working with automated deployment pipelines in a multi environment setup and Git-based workflows for release management
• Solid understanding of distributed architectures, event-driven design, and message queuing mechanisms
• Experience in application performance tuning, distributed tracing, and centralized logging
• Experience working within Agile development methodologies
  
  

Nice to have experience

• Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda and API Gateway
• Exposure to Snowflake or Databricks ecosystem
• Experience with transitioning workloads between cloud providers (e.g., AWS to Azure) or implementing hybrid cloud architecture
• Understanding of backend-to-frontend integration patterns, particularly with Angular-based applications
• Background in handling telemetry data or large-scale event processing within industrial IoT environments
