The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and driven Software Engineer (Backend) to join our growing engineering team. As an early member, you will play a key role in building and scaling the core software that powers our product. This includes developing robust data pipelines, transforming our platform into a distributed and scalable web application, and delivering high-quality software across all areas of the product.

You will collaborate closely with business, product, and engineering teams to contribute to the full product lifecycle—from design to deployment. This is a unique opportunity to work on innovative solutions that bring an entire industry into the digital age.

What You Will Achieve And Key Responsibilities

Scalable System Development

• Develop and maintain data pipelines that power the product’s discovery and AI search capabilities.
• Transform the platform into a robust, distributed, and scalable web application on par with leading tech products.
  
  

• Build high-quality software across all applications of the platform.
• Participate in the full product lifecycle by collaborating with business, product, and engineering teams on design, development, testing, deployment, and feedback integration.
  
  

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of services, infrastructure design, and customer feedback into the development process.
• Contribute to creating a culture of engineering excellence within the team.

By building scalable backend systems and delivering high-quality solutions, you will help digitize an industry ripe for transformation while driving innovation and growth.

Who You Are

You are a motivated Software Engineer with at least 1 year of experience who is eager to work on innovative projects in a fast-paced environment. You thrive in collaborative settings but are also self-driven and take pride in your work.

Minimum Qualifications

• Software development experience with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Python or equivalent object-oriented languages with knowledge of design patterns and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
• Experience working with cross-functional teams on end-to-end web app deployment (concept-to-code transformation, integration with services, infrastructure design).
• Proficiency in shell scripting languages (e.g., Bash), SQL databases (SQL Server/PostgreSQL), and data modeling skills.
• Ability to write test cases and scenarios based on specifications.
• Proven ability to lead initiatives from concept to operation while managing roadblocks effectively.
  
  

• Experience working with applications hosted on AWS or GCP.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools like Docker, Ansible, or CI/CD solutions.
• Knowledge of web app/server/DB security best practices.
• Experience with tools/frameworks such as Django DRF, Nginx/Gunicorn configurations, web scraping (Scrapy/Selenium/BeautifulSoup), Elastic Search, OCR tools (Tesseract), PDF processing libraries (PyPDF2/Apache PDFBox), TensorFlow/PyTorch/OpenCV/scikit-learn.
• Understanding of distributed architectures and microservices.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones.
