We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer -Java Backend to join our Open Systems Development & Support -CAT IT Division Bangalore Team.

The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore PSN Office, KA-& Chennai WTC Centre-India

What You Will Do

A Java developer job involves developing, testing, and maintaining java applications using Java and J2EE technologies. Key skills include developing and supporting applications using Core Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Hibernate/Spring data JPA, JavaScript and writing SQL queries. Effective communication and collaboration skills are also important..

A Java Developer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Java-based software and applications, contributing to all stages of the software development lifecycle.

Job Duties/Responsibilities Will Include:

• Competent to perform all programming, development, and integration assignments without close supervision.
• Provides programming and assistance to other team members, QA, and business users.
• Works independently on complex processes and modules that may be used by one or more programs or systems.
• Develops major system modules or programs based on requirements gathered from system customers or user stories.
• Collaborate with senior developers and architects to design and implement high quality scalable application solutions.
• Develop, test and debug software components and applications. Ensure code quality through unit testing and code reviews.
• Database Integration – work with relational database (e.g. MySQL, Oracle) to design and implement database schemas, queries and transactions.
• System/API integration – Integrate with other systems or API to enhance application functionality.
• Troubleshooting – Investigate and resolve defects and issues reported by QA.
• Version Control – Utilize version control systems for code management and collaborate effectively with other team members.
• Coding standard and best practices which adheres to Industry standards
  
  

• 3 to 5 years of application development experience in Java and J2EE related technologies.
• Strong proficiency in developing applications using Core Java, Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring boot, Spring integration with Hibernate/Spring Data JPA.
• Good understanding of Spring Security Authentication/Authorization using OAuth2, JWT LDAP, SAML etc.
• Experience in creating Spring Rest API calls. (Controller/Service/Repository).
• Knowledge of working with Java build tools like Maven, Gradle etc.
• Experience using AI tools like Microsoft Copilot for software development/testing.
• Writing and implementing efficient and reusable code in Java
• Experience with test-driven development.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)
• Experience using Logger frameworks (Log4j, LogBack) and Swagger.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and application deployments.
• Experience working on an Agile team using Azure DevOps (ADO) boards.
  
  

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field. (B.E, B.Tech., MCA)
  
  

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and debugging skills.
• Ability and desire to learn quickly.

• Work Timings: 01:00 Noon -10:00PM IST
• This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Describes similarities and differences of life cycle for new product development vs. new release.
• Identifies common issues, problems, and considerations for each phase of the life cycle.
• Works with a formal life cycle methodology.
• Explains phases, activities, dependencies, deliverables, and key decision points.

Knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Has experience with designing data exchange interfaces to and from software product.
• Describes tools and techniques for extraction, transformation and loading of electronic data.
• Cites examples of common linkage requirements for software products and vendors.
• Works with integrating software into the customer or partner framework and infrastructure.
• Participates in the development of technology interfaces and bridges.
  
  

Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.

Level Extensive Experience:

• Demonstrates experience with the architecture and design of major or multiple products.
• Describes major software architecture alternatives and considerations.
• Explains design considerations for commercial database systems, operating systems and web.
• Displays experience in estimating the cost of a specific design of a proposed product.
• Facilitates design reviews and walkthroughs.
• Analyzes benefits and drawbacks of specific software designs and architecture.

• Participates in creating technical requirements for software development and deployment.

Knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements.

• Participates in test readiness reviews, functional, volume, and load testing.
• Describes key features and aspects of a specific testing discipline or methodology.
• Tests software components for compliance with functional requirements and design specifications.
• Explains procedures for documenting test activities and results (e.g. errors, non-conformance, etc.)
