Project Summary and position overview:
The qualified individual will join a team to provide L2/L3 support for fixed income information and analytics products.
This team is responsible for enabling the core infrastructure for fixed income reference data, used by internal and external LSEG content clients worldwide.
Successful applicants will be involved for light development, ongoing support and maintenance of software systems consisting of web applications, automated processes, and databases during US hours.
This support is essential to the success of our products.
These roles will also be a training ground for larger developer roles within the same organization.
The position will work with staff in multiple locations including USA / Mexico, Beijing, and Bangalore.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Position is a Support engineer in the Unix environment.
- Primary skills used will be Unix, Autosys, SQL, and Perl.
- Candidate will perform a wide array of tasks: support of AutoSys automated jobs, data entry web pages and automated data feeds; escalations and troubleshooting system wide outages and urgent problems; answering data analyst and business group questions; performing bug fixes; helping to prototype new systems on new hardware.
- The position includes full support (including monitoring) of our test and pre-production environments, and as-needed on-call support of production and disaster recovery environments that are supervised by operations staff.
- This position is not an operations position and entails some light development, troubleshooting, manual fixes, and debugging.
- All communication is performed through tickets and the support engineer will be part of a small team performing this function.
- Support engineers will also be encouraged to supervise ongoing problems, come up with potential solutions for them, automate repetitive or manual tasks, participate in post-mortem discussions, and build tools that make support easier and lessen the risk of future service outages.
- Position must work in US hours during initial training of 1-2 months.
- We will be moving into Rotational shifts soon after.
Education Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
Required Skills:
- 1+ years’ experience of working in UNIX or Linux variant is needed as all our systems are Linux
- SQL of any type (Sybase is preferred) is very useful but not required. Knowledge of at least one scripting language (Perl is preferred).
- Must be diligent and careful in production activities.
- Candidate loves to automate their work when appropriate and knows how to build tools to make their job easier.
- Must have excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have the ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple important tasks at the same time is essential.
- Very strong analytic and critical-thinking skills.
- Candidates must be both creative to come up with solutions to difficult problems, but also willing to follow the process closely.
- Familiarity with agile development techniques is beneficial.
- Optional products: SQL Server, Apache, modperl, CGI Autosys, Jira, Service now tools.
- Knowledge of fixed income or other financial markets is valuable.
- Previous experience providing on-call support for actual production processes is useful.
- Confluence is useful as our internal documentation uses Confluence tool.
