Software Engineer I at DDBIT plays a crucial role in optimizing trials using insights generated from curated data pipelines based on study data. This position focuses heavily on creating new data pipelines, automating, and enhancing existing ones, and developing and maintaining intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces or dashboards using Tableau and React JS.

The Software Engineer I will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design, and develop user-friendly solutions, and ensure a seamless user experience that enhances data analysis and decision-making processes.

A successful candidate for this role will have a background as a data analyst or software developer, excelling in Python (NumPy, Pandas, etc.), and some hands-on experience with Tableau. While knowledge and some hands-on experience with React JS are beneficial, they are not mandatory. However, given BMS's evolving landscape, the candidate may need to onboard React JS in the future and should therefore have a keen interest in learning new technologies. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders & business users, to gather business requirements and understand user needs & key metrics for data analytics platforms, dashboards, and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and integrate data from various sources, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Optimize data infrastructure, build data pipelines, and enhance data quality to support efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
• Partner with senior analysts to design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for data visualization and analysis.
• Perform data analysis to uncover patterns and insights that support strategic decision-making and business performance optimization.
• Refresh tableau dashboards and make easy to medium complexity enhancements.
• Workstream management, defining delivery timelines and meeting them.
• Ensure consistency and adherence to design guidelines and best practices across different applications and platforms. Stay up-to-date with emerging data visualization trends, technologies and best practices.
• Collaborate with senior analysts to design, implement, and optimize user-friendly and responsive UI/UX solutions using front-end technologies, while conducting user research and usability testing.

Skills and Competencies:

Must Have Skills

• Very good proficiency on Python and be able to build end to end applications. Python fullstack developer preferred.
• Data analysis/transformation on python using its libraries like Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib etc.
• Good Proficiency on SQL and able to write complex queries
• Good knowledge of coding best practices.
• Basic knowledge of Tableau and should be able to make simple changes/enhancements.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to create logics are per business requirements and convert these logics to code.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Good to Have Skills

• Basic but hands-on understanding of R (somewhere between beginner & intermediate level enough to understand existing codes make minor adjustments).
• Knowledge of UI/UX design tools for wireframing such as Sketch, Adobe XD or Figma. Should be comfortable in creating basic wireframes in MS-Excel.
• Proficiency in front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc preferably React JS.
• Familiarity with UI/UX design principles, user-centered design, data visualization best practices, principles of effective design, and information architecture.
• Ability to translate complex data and analytics requirements into intuitive dashboard/UI/UX designs.
• Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics, layout, typography, and color in UI/UX designs.

Qualifications & Experience

• 1-3 years of experience as software developer with a focus on data pipelining/ETL, data analytics and automation.
• Very good Proficiency in Python and SQL with working knowledge of Tableau. Python full stack developer is preferred.
• Experience working with Python libraries like Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib etc.
• Functional knowledge or experience in Lifesciences Research and Development domain will be a big plus point.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders along with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Knowledge & experience on React JS will be a big plus point.
• Knowledge of API integration, web services and cloud services will be good to have.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
