Roles & Responsibilities
We are looking for a Software Engineer with 2–4 years of experience who is passionate about building scalable, cloud-based applications. You will work as part of a collaborative engineering team to develop, test, and maintain microservices that run in a modern AWS-based environment.
Healthcare domain exposure is a plus, especially for engineers interested in building secure, reliable systems that handle sensitive data.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain backend services using Java
- Contribute to the development of microservices and RESTful APIs
- Build and deploy applications on AWS, using services such as S3 and EKS (with guidance)
- Containerize applications using Docker and support deployments on Kubernetes (EKS)
- Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL / Aurora PostgreSQL
- Implement basic caching and performance improvements using Redis
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices
- Participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
- Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and QA teams to deliver features end-to-end
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving application issues in development and production environments
- 2–4 years of professional software development experience
- Hands-on experience with Java and backend application development
- Understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful services
- Hands on experience in building front-end applications using React or Angular.
- Basic to intermediate experience with AWS (S3, EC2, or EKS preferred)
- Experience using Docker for application containerization
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Understanding of software development best practices and Agile methodologies
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies
- Exposure to Kubernetes (EKS) in a production or staging environment
- Familiarity with Redis or caching concepts
- Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code tools
- Exposure to GitLab CI/CD or other CI/CD pipelines
- Experience or interest in the healthcare domain

Availity fosters a collaborative and open culture where communication and engagement are central to our success. As a remote first company, we are also camera-first and provide all associates with camera/video capability to simulate the office environment.
