Over 1.2 million 7-day active developers use Android Studio to build over 4 million apps that run on over 2 billion devices. The team culture encourages and rewards Product Excellence work (refactoring, testing, reducing complexity, improving key Customer User Journeys). We were also the first adopters of the Kotlin programming language, with many tens of thousands of lines of code written. Using Kotlin for new code is strongly encouraged, while converting existing Java code to Kotlin is also part of daily refactoring work.The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
