Team Impact
As a Software Engineer on our News Distribution team, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of investment technology. You will architect and build scalable systems that ingest, analyze, and transform vast volumes of financial documents—enabling smarter insights through AI, machine learning, and vectorization techniques. This role combines hands-on software engineering with strategic technical leadership, offering the opportunity to set direction, mentor peers, and deliver production-grade distributed systems that power our next generation of financial intelligence products.
What You’II Do
- Collaborate in the development of large-scale document ingestion and vectorization pipelines for financial content (PDF, HTML, DOCX, etc.).
- Apply cutting-edge NLP and data processing techniques to extract, classify, and enrich unstructured data for downstream analytics, retrieval, and AI-powered applications.
- Drive system reliability and scalability, building distributed, fault-tolerant data systems in a cloud-native environment.
- Collaborate with data scientists, AI engineers, and product teams to deliver search, recommendation, and generative AI features within the FactSet product suite.
- Implement robust testing, validation, and monitoring frameworks to ensure high-quality data outputs and reliable service performance.
- Contribute to FactSet’s innovation strategy by researching and integrating emerging technologies in LLMs, vector databases, and large-scale document retrieval architectures.
- Education: BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with proven success designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python or another OOP language (Java, C#, C++).
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust, maintainable, and high-performance software.
- Expertise in distributed systems, retrieval architectures, and scalable data pipelines.
- Proficiency in Linux development environments and version control systems (Git, CI/CD).
- Familiarity with AI/ML and vectorization frameworks (e.g., BERT, SentenceTransformers, spaCy, OpenAI embeddings).
- Experience with vector databases (Elasticsearch, Opensearch, Pinecone, Weaviate) and information retrieval systems.
- Familiarity with cloud ecosystems (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience with financial data such as SEC filings, earnings releases, and market research reports.
- Understanding of modern web technologies (JavaScript, Angular, Vue, HTML5/CSS3).
- Exposure to MLOps practices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and continuous deployment for data-intensive applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into practical guidance for cross-functional teams.
