Sr Data Scientist - Payments

Overview

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Payments Science team and make significant contributions to our mission to streamline and optimize Uber's global payment experiences.

You will work with product managers, engineers, business leaders and fellow data scientists to make meaningful contributions across various payment products in our rider and eater apps. You will work on fast-moving, high-stakes problems reaching a global audience. A deep analytical passion and the ability to execute on key business priorities is a must for this role.

You will work with product managers, engineers, business leaders and fellow data scientists to make meaningful contributions across various payment products in our rider and eater apps. You will work on fast-moving, high-stakes problems reaching a global audience. A deep analytical passion and the ability to execute on key business priorities is a must for this role.

• Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors or M.S. with a degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
• 5yrs+ experience in improving products, understanding the user journey and extracting insights from data.
• Strong business and product sense: ability to shape complex, vague questions that touch multiple product/project areas into well-defined analyses that drive business decisions
• Advanced SQL expertise and also comfortable with using Python and R when needed.
• 5yrs+ experience in launching multiple large-scale experiments (such as A/B experiments) and an expert in experimental design and using statistical methods in exploratory analysis.
• Advanced experience with dashboarding/data visualization (i.e. Google Data Studio, Tableau, Mixpanel, Looker or similar).
• Ability to work in a self-guided manner and deliver on tight timelines and prioritize tasks while maintaining quality and detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with partners coming from both technical and non-technical backgrounds
• Preferred Qualifications
• Conduct thorough analyses of datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improving the user experience with payments
• Refine ambiguous questions and generate new hypotheses about the product and business through a deep understanding of the data, our customers, and our business
• Design experiments and draw detailed, impactful conclusions to understand the impact of product changes
• Develop and monitor strategic metrics to measure success for our teams and understand all underlying drivers.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, business leaders, and other data scientists to define project goals and make decisions based on data insights and experiment results.
• Communicate data driven insights and learning across cross functional peers and management.
• Mentor junior ICs and serve as a data thought leader in your product areas of responsibility
