Sr. Database Engineer

**Job Description:**

We are seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA / Database Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server database management, performance tuning, and data security. You will be responsible for maintaining the availability, performance, and integrity of our SQL Server databases.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• **Database Administration:** Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances. Monitor and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure high availability and performance.
• **Performance Tuning:** Identify and resolve performance issues. Optimize queries, indexes, and database schemas to enhance database performance.
• **Backup and Recovery:** Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies. Perform regular database backups and restore operations as needed.
• **Security Management:** Ensure database security through proper access controls, encryption, and auditing. Monitor and respond to security incidents.
• **Troubleshooting and Support:** Provide technical support for database-related issues. Troubleshoot and resolve database problems in a timely manner.
• **Documentation:** Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• **Collaboration:** Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to design and implement database solutions that meet business needs.
  
  

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

• **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
• **Experience:** Minimum of 10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or Database Engineer.
• **Technical Skills:**
• Proficient in SQL Server 2016/2019/2022.
• Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Profiler, and other related tools.
• Strong understanding of T-SQL, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Knowledge of database design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Experience with SQL Server Always On, Replication, and High Availability solutions.
• **Problem-Solving:** Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• **Communication:** Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
• **Attention to Detail:** High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  
  

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Experience with cloud-based SQL Server solutions (e.g., Azure SQL Database).
• Knowledge of other database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
