Sr IT Engineer - Automation Quality

Overview

The Sr. Software QA Engineer is an IT Applications Testing Shared Services resource responsible for Systems Testing of start-up implementations and O&M software development projects. The Sr. QA Engineer is required to perform analysis and review systems requirements, partner with development and DevOps engineering teams to understand project objectives and gather requirements to design tests with a focus on automation for reusability and maintainability. This position will be required to develop test strategy in a hybrid setting while maximizing use of test automation for our web-based applications. Responsibilities will include mentoring testing team members, participating in performing POC/research for new process/tools, making recommendations, and implementation upon management approval.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for testing activities for systems implementation, and for operations and management software development projects.
• Perform analysis and review of system requirements, estimations, and peer reviews.
• Monitor and participate in overall test activities, UAT, production support, and provide testing status.
• Lead efforts in performing POC/research for new tools, make recommendations of such tools, and implement upon management approval.
• Identify and determine data for testing, assist with test preparation, and test execution.
• Develop, maintain, and implement integration/system test strategy, test plans, test processes, test scenarios and test cases based on Organization’ CMMI standards.
• Communicate with analysts and developers to understand/clarify requirements.
• Identify, report, and manage defects in defect tracking system.
• Maintain project’s test documentation.
• Participate in reviews as per project’s scope.
• Work with external parties for interface testing.
• Assist with complex testing SQL and/or utilities needed during white/gray box testing.
• Assist with development of functional automation scripts for regression testing.
• Assist with performance testing when required.
• Troubleshoot user reported production defects.
• Provide systems test results walkthroughs, assist in data prep, and supports test case execution for UAT.
• Conduct demos/walkthroughs.
• Participate in project meetings and status reporting.
• Provide testing status reports per project requirements and provide input to the project plans and processes.
• Identify and communicate risks to the project team, provide regular updates to the project manager, and provide technical information for change requests meetings.
• Participate in QMSS activities to support Shared Services and CMMI (MandA and PPQA) functions.
• Participate in collection and review of quantitative data related to software testing and development activities for measurement and analysis.
• Participate in PPQA reviews and audits of project activities and work products to ensure compliance with documented plans, procedures and standards as required.
• Participate in tools selection process and make recommendation.
• Typically responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other technical employees within job area.
  
  

Responsibilities:

• Participate in test planning, test case writing and execution – in a hybrid testing approach through automation and manual test execution
• Participate in manual and automated test management activities for testing web based and/or mobile applications including
• Manage defect lifecycle process from reporting bugs through closure
• Identify and prepare test data for testing
• Provide regular updates to the Test/Project Manager
• Attend project related meeting as needed
• Provide testing estimations for manual testing and input into automation estimates
• Maintain Project’s manual test and automation documentation
• Provide UAT support for their test data needs
• Other testing related duties as per project needs
  
  

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 5+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  
  

Technical Skills / Knowledge Required:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in required skills for Automation and Manual testing in a medium to large complex web-based project, preferably in healthcare industry
• Proficient in writing test cases and execution in an Agile environment
• Hands-on experience in Se with Python coding for test automation. Java will be considered but willing to learn Python.
• Proficient in Rest components/APIs for testing webservices and web applications with tools such as Postman
• Hands-on experience in building automated test scripts
• Demonstrated proficiency with SQL for creating/modifying queries for backend and ETL testing
• Must function at the expert level with testing web based and/or mobile applications and defect management tools, processes, and reporting
• Unix/Linux/ command line experience
• Working experience with AWS fundamentals and core concepts for test development and execution
• Familiar with technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes and running automation scripts through CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or tools in AWS ecosystem
