Position Summary
Software Developer Engineer in Test are skilled resources with a strong quality foundation and intermediate programming skills that not only serve as testers but as developers for test automation. SDETs will shift focus from manual to test automation.
Position Responsibilities & Essential function
- Partner with product & engineering/scrum teams to review requirements, build automation, and teach engineers how to maintain tests in BDD/TDD format
- Devise the comprehensive test strategy for a new product and ensure it is executed across multiple teams
- Monitor tests and report/resolve failures
- Work with manual QA to automate repetitive and critical test cases (automation test suite)
- Research new tools and techniques to improve quality
- Provide quality reports with recommendations for improvement
- Develop/code test cases
Qualifications
Preferred:
- End-to-End Automated testing exposure by using one or more frameworks (BDD/Cucumber or Robot Framework or TestNG preferred)
- Should be able to code automation scripts for various QA activities (Integration scripts between CI/CD tool and Test management tool)
- Focus on automated processes (Test reports, Test traceability). Leverage current team skills and lead automation efforts. Take ownership of automation repository (Script maintenance, expansion, continuous improvements)
- An ongoing thirst for new knowledge and ideas, and a passion for software engineering as a QA Automation Engineer
- Creative problem-solving, proficient debugging and profiling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Well versed in writing concise, high-quality technical documentation.
- Make decisions, and facilitate the decisions of others, on testing approach and plans in the context of the larger IT landscape.
- Experience on Identifying the Type of Data required for Testing, creating, driving plans to provision test environments on demand
- Proficiency in using TDM tools to create and mine test data, as well as the ability to automate data generation to test scenarios.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, computer science or related field is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience in one of these fields (work experience may be used to in place of degree)
- 2+ years of End-to-End Automated testing experience by using one or more frameworks (BDD/Cucumber or Robot Framework or TestNG preferred)
- 2+ years engineering experience with various programming languages (JavaScript/React/Node/Python or Java preferred)
- Experience with source control (Git, GitHub Flow)
- Experience in Web applications, Web services, back-end white-box testing
- An ongoing thirst for new knowledge and ideas, and a passion for software engineering as a QA Automation Engineer
- Experience working with distributed teams. Participate in manual functional testing by developing new test coverage, as required.
