Role Overview – Staff Software Engineer (macOS App) You will lead the design and development of SAMMY’s macOS application, focusing on seamless integration between the C++ SDK, Flutter frontend, and backend APIs. You’ll bring deep knowledge of macOS build environments, packaging, performance, and UI conventions, helping create a native, secure, and highly reliable desktop experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead macOS-specific development of the desktop application using C++, Flutter, and RESTful APIs
- Own implementation and optimisation of high-quality components within the C++ SDK
- Build performant, responsive, and intuitive interfaces using Flutter aligned with macOS Human Interface Guidelines
- Manage integration with backend services, including authentication, PostgreSQL, and Clickhouse
- Implement best practices in unit and integration testing, deployment readiness, and code quality
- Handle complex debugging scenarios across the desktop UI, SDK, and backend APIs
- Ensure macOS packaging, notarization, and release compliance (.app bundles, entitlements, etc.)
- Contribute to documentation and architecture decisions
- Mentor junior developers on macOS patterns, architecture, and performance tuning
- Participate in architecture reviews and product planning cycles
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 8–12 years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Deep experience in at least one of the following: ○ C++ development, including SDK-level work Flutter frontend development for desktop RESTful API integration in client apps
- Familiarity with macOS development environments, including Xcode, macOS build systems, and code signing
- Experience with macOS packaging and notarization workflows
- Understanding of desktop app security, UAC, and user permissions
- Proficiency in Git and collaborative engineering practices
- Solid problem-solving and architectural thinking
- Ability to work autonomously and mentor others effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Cocoa, Objective-C, or Swift for deep macOS integration
- Knowledge of macOS UI/UX conventions and accessibility guidelines
- Experience optimizing performance for desktop applications
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for desktop deployment
- Contributions to open-source projects in C++ or Flutter
- Experience working in agile and cross-functional teams
- Background in real-time systems or voice/speech platforms
