What you’ll do

• Define and drive the long-term technical vision and architecture for entire product verticals, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
• Solve the most ambiguous and impactful technical problems that span multiple teams and systems, often where no clear solution exists.
• Partner with executive leadership (Product, Engineering, Business) to shape company-level strategy and translate it into a multi-year technical roadmap.
• Act as a force multiplier by setting the technical bar for the entire organization through exemplary code, architectural guidance, and mentorship of senior engineers.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives, build consensus, and make critical decisions that impact the future of technology at ASBL.

You’ll thrive if you

• Are a "systems thinker" who can reason from first principles, connect disparate technical and business challenges, and chart a path through immense ambiguity.
• Can build consensus and influence technical direction without direct authority, guiding multiple teams toward a unified architecture.
• Are deeply technical and hands-on, but remain pragmatic about when to write code, when to write a design doc, and when to mentor others to solve a problem.

Qualifications

• 10 to 15 years of professional software engineering experience, with a demonstrated track record of leading large-scale, cross-team technical initiatives from concept to completion.
• Recognized as an expert in multiple technical domains, such as distributed systems, data architecture, cloud infrastructure, or front-end architecture.
• Experience designing and leading the implementation of mission-critical, fault-tolerant systems that serve significant, production-level traffic.
• A deep, systems-level understanding of how modern applications are built, deployed, and monitored at scale.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts for both engineering and executive audiences.

Nice to have: Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), advanced database optimization, designing distributed systems, or prompt engineering.
