Technical Lead – Engineering

About the Role

As a Technical Lead at CatalystOne, you will be a key driver in shaping the technical vision and execution of your team. You will play an active role in the product discovery process, provide architectural guidance, and lead engineering efforts to build scalable and secure solutions. As the technical voice within the product trio (Product Manager, UX Designer, and Tech Lead), you are expected to foster strong collaboration, technical excellence, and a high-quality engineering culture.

Our products rely on a React.js frontend and a Java + Spring Boot backend, ensuring a seamless experience for users. We actively leverage Generative AI (GenAI) across all phases of development, from coding and testing to architecture development, to drive efficiency and innovation. In this role, you won’t just be coding—you’ll be shaping how we build products, working closely with designer, product manager, and engineers to create high-quality applications.

What You’ll be Doing

• Product Discovery & Technical Strategy
  • Communicate and collaborate closely and frequently with Product Manager and UX designer – take an equal and active role in the trio.
  • Communicate trio decisions and conclusions to the team: why something is the way it is, which problem was prioritized, the rationale behind the user experience, and the chosen technical details.
  • Ensure technical feasibility by providing alternatives with cost/value trade-offs, ballpark estimates, and risk assessments.
  • Think cross-module consistency from a technical perspective — when to build common/reusable services/components and when to follow similar patterns.
• Technical Excellence & System Design
  • Ensure the areas owned by the team have a solid architecture, leveraging team expertise while staying aware of the overall product architecture.
  • Ensure team has a mindset towards quality, with a strong focus on security and scalability.
  • Ensure proper documentation of architecture and technical decisions.
  • Contribute to the team’s development tasks as a senior developer.
• Team Enablement & Engineering Culture
  • Involve the engineering team early to leverage their competence and achieve the best outcome — avoid becoming a single point of contact.
  • Ensure processes, practices, and tools are well understood and adopted within the team.
  • Contribute to the evolution of those processes, practices, and tools.
  • Contribute to building a thriving tech community.

Our Tech Stack

• Backend: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs.
• Frontend: React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS.
• Testing: Selenium 4 (BDD), ReadyAPI, K6.
• Test Case Management - TestLink
• AI tools: GitHub co-pilot, ChatGPT enterprise.
• DevOps & Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
• Cloud Platforms: Azure
• General: Git, REST APIs, Agile methodologies, feature toggles, quality gates, Jira

Who We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of experience in software development, including technical leadership.
• Strong backend expertise with Java & Spring Boot and frontend proficiency in React.js & TypeScript.
• Deep experience with REST APIs, microservices architecture, and CI/CD workflows.
• Hands-on with infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Cloud.
• Solid grasp of automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium 4, ReadyAPI, K6).
• Awareness of AI-assisted coding tools and their practical application.
• Strong focus on software quality, security, scalability, and best practices.
• Clear communicator with the ability to convey technical topics in business terms.
