This purpose of this Associate Software Engineer is:
The Associate Software Engineer develops high-quality software solutions under guidance from senior engineers. This entry-level position focuses on writing clean, maintainable code, learning established development practices, and contributing to team projects while building foundational technical skills in software development.
A typical day at ACI for an Associate Software Engineer is:
- Write clean, maintainable code for assigned features following team coding standards
- Implement bug fixes and small to medium-sized features under supervision
- Write unit tests to ensure code quality and reliability
- Participate in code reviews to learn best practices and improve code quality
- Leverage AI-powered development tools to enhance coding productivity and learning
- Collaborate with senior engineers on technical design and implementation approaches
- Participate actively in agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Seek feedback and mentorship to accelerate technical growth
- Document code and contribute to technical documentation
- Follow established development processes and version control practices
- Debug and troubleshoot issues in development and test environments
- Contribute to continuous improvement of team practices and processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Understand and adhere to all corporate policies to include but not limited to the ACI Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed to succeed in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
- 0–2 years of professional software development experience
- Strong academic background or relevant internship experience in software development
- Experience with object-oriented programming and software development fundamentals
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, or similar)
- Basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Familiarity with version control systems
- Basic knowledge of database technologies and web technologies
- Understanding of software testing concepts and practices
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
- Effective communication skills for technical and team collaboration
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and development practices
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed for this role:
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Familiarity with application runtime environments and infrastructure platforms
- Knowledge of RESTful API design and microservices concepts

Work Environment
- Hybrid work model (2–3 days in-office); multiple office locations available
- Minimal travel required; occasional team meetings or training
