ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Preparation:
Requirement Gathering: Understand the current PowerCenter 8.6 environment, business requirements, and migration goals.
Migration Strategy: Develop a comprehensive migration plan, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
Environment Setup: Prepare the target PowerCenter 10.5 environment (hardware, software, databases).
Repository Preparation: Ensure the PowerCenter 10.5 repository is ready to receive migrated objects.
Data Transformation File Backup: Back up the data transformation files before the migration.
Model Repository Backup: Back up the Model Repository before the migration.
Integration Service Preparation: Prepare the Data Integration Service for the new environment.
Profiling Warehouse Preparation: Prepare the Profiling Warehouse for the new environment.
Reference Data Directories Preparation: Prepare the Reference Data Directories for the new environment.
Metadata Manager Preparation: Prepare the Metadata Manager for the new environment.
Metadata Manager Warehouse Backup: Back up the Metadata Manager Warehouse.
Metadata Manager Properties File Backup: Back up the Metadata Manager Properties File.
Database Backup: Back up all databases used by PowerCenter.
Domain Preparation: Prepare the domain for the upgrade, including shutting down and backing up the domain.
Migration Execution:
Object Migration: Migrate mappings, workflows, sessions, and other objects from PowerCenter 8.6 to 10.5.
Data Migration: Migrate data from the source systems to the target systems, ensuring data integrity.
Testing: Thoroughly test the migrated objects and data flows to ensure they function correctly.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the migration process.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of the migration process, including object mappings, and test results.
Version Control: Utilize version control systems to track changes to objects and workflows.
Team-Based Development: Facilitate team-based development using the PowerCenter repository and Model repository features.
Import Objects: Import objects from a PowerCenter repository into a Model repository.
Import Workflow: Import workflows and ensure that all dependent objects such as mappings and sessions are imported.
Post-Migration:
Performance Tuning: Optimize the performance of the migrated objects and workflows.
Data Validation: Validate the migrated data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
User Training: Provide training to users on the new PowerCenter 10.5 environment.
Ongoing Support: Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the migrated PowerCenter environment.
Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect the PowerCenter environment.
Access Control: Manage Informatica access control using groups and roles.
Skills:
Proficiency in SQL, NOSQL and database systems.
Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and methodologies.
Experience with various data sources and formats (e.g., flat files, XML, JSON).
Experience with Informatica PowerCenter 8.6, 9.1, 10.2, 10.5.
Experience with Linux File systems i.e. Rocky Linux
Informatica Administration and Deployment Exposure.
Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex ETL processes.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
