Overview
The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the Product Owner and acting as a delegate for the Product Owner and partners with the Engineers. Depending on the size of the squad, the Delivery and Business Analyst role could be one person, part of a role, or separate roles depending on the size and complexity of the squad.
These roles cover governance, planning, tracking status, risks & issues, supporting with gathering requirements, writing epics, features, stories, ensuring requirements get built, and all activities needed to ensure that the product is ready to go live.
Support the Product Owner by partnering with the Engineering teams to ensure what maps to how.
Responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis of existing business processes, systems, and workflows to identify areas for improvement. Uses the RORA framework and techniques such as interviews, workshops, and document analysis to gather and validate requirements effectively.
Responsible for estimating the size of the backlog, refining and prioritising it by conducting regular reviews with the development team and managing scrum ceremonies.
Responsible for clarifying requirements to ensure a well-defined and actionable backlog for successful development, defining acceptance criteria, and ensuring all dependencies are interlocked.
Responsible for developing functional specifications, process flow diagrams, wireframes, and other required documentation to articulate the proposed solutions. Defines key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of implemented solutions.
Collaborates with UX/UI and service designers to develop user-friendly interfaces, service maps, and efficient operating models that enhance user experience, increase adoption, and reduce costs.
Supports the Engineering team in developing test plans, scenarios, and cases; conducting user testing; documenting resolution of defects; and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the product meets user expectations.
Responsible for ensuring all readiness activities (Design, Legal, Risk, Tech, Operations, Customer) are complete for the product to go live in accordance with the Readiness Checklist.
Responsible for collaborating with the PMO function to ensure relevant governance is in place, reporting requirements are met, and RAID items are tracked and managed.
Additional Responsibilities:
Facilitates regular engagement with business stakeholders to gather feedback, align priorities, and ensure changing business needs are reflected in the backlog.
Performs impact analysis on proposed changes to evaluate effects on processes, systems, and users, providing recommendations based on feasibility and business value.
Maintains end-to-end traceability of requirements from definition through development, testing, and deployment, ensuring alignment with compliance and audit needs.
Identifies inefficiencies and recommends data-driven improvements through retrospectives and continuous improvement practices.
Supports change management by contributing to user guides, training documentation, and internal communication for smooth transitions and successful adoption.
Participates in release planning to align scope and timelines with technical readiness and business priorities.
Monitors post-deployment outcomes through KPIs and feedback loops to ensure business value is achieved.
Collaborates with data and analytics teams to ensure business intelligence requirements are captured and data integrity is maintained.
Ensures compliance with industry regulations and internal governance by validating that all documentation and processes meet applicable standards.
Mentors junior Business Analysts and supports professional development through guidance, coaching, and best practice sharing.
