Job Description
eSthenos is looking for an experienced Java Developer to help scale a proven fintech platform that already serves hundreds of thousands of rural households with timely access to credit. The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable systems, writing clean and maintainable code, and contributing to a high-performing engineering culture.

The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable systems, writing clean and maintainable code, and contributing to a high-performing engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Scale the platform to support millions of users and on board new financial clients.
- Develop and implement strategies to accelerate time to marketsuch as automation and modularization of platform components.
- Design and develop new products and services built on top of the existing platform to expand into untapped markets.
- Enhance platform stability and scalability using efficient backend logic and optimized database queries.
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks to support continuous integration and delivery.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Java development, with strong experience in Java 8.
- Proficiency in Spring Boot and core Spring Framework modules.
- Experience with Hibernate/JPA for ORM and MySQL, including the ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries.
- Familiarity with Java EE internals like memory management, class loading, and transaction handling.
- Experience in developing web applications using frameworks like Spring MVC, JSF, Wicket, or GWT.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs and service-based architecture.
- Working knowledge of Docker and containerized deployments (a plus).
- Exposure to test-driven development and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience working in agile teams and collaborative development environments.
- Follows clean code principles and avoids ambiguous variable names like a, temp1, var1 etc..
- Understands that code is read more often than written, and writes it accordingly.
- Comfortable giving and receiving constructive code reviews.
- Strong grasp of DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) and other software design principles.
- Encouraged to experiment with new technologies and evaluate them hands-on.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
