Java Software Engineer

Primary Responsibility:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to lead the upgrade of our Java applications to the latest version. This role requires expertise in Java migration, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and compatibility assessment. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Java versions, frameworks, and dependencies, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal disruptions.

Responsibilities:

Java Upgrade & Migration:

* Assess current Java applications and dependencies.

* Plan and execute the migration to the latest Java version (e.g., from Java 8 to Java 17).

* Identify and resolve deprecated APIs, security vulnerabilities, and compatibility issues.

* Optimize code and application performance post-migration.

Application Modernization:

* Refactor and rewrite legacy Java code to align with best practices.

* Implement new Java features, such as records, sealed classes, and virtual threads.

* Upgrade related frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, etc.) and libraries as needed.

Testing & Quality Assurance:

* Ensure rigorous testing using JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, and other frameworks.

* Conduct regression testing and performance benchmarking.

Requirements:

* Around 8-10 years' related experience in a commercial software development role

* BE in Computer Science or equivalent

* Strong object-oriented programming skills

* Strong expertise in Java 8+, with hands-on experience upgrading to Java 11, Java 17, or later.

* In-depth knowledge of JVM internals, memory management, and performance tuning.

* Experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, Microservices, and RESTful APIs.

* Hands-on experience with Gradle/Maven dependency management.

* Experience in the full software development lifecycle using an Agile development process

* Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

* Excellent communication skills
