MS-SQL Technical Lead

In Medidata, we are currently seeking a skilled SQL Lead to join our talented team and contribute to write complex SQL queries and create standard and custom complex visualizations and data products (extracts) in Medidata CIS Team. You will be working together with colleagues from Medidata onshore and offshore Teams (Pune, Bangalore, and Hyderabad).

This position can be based in Pune and Bangalore, India

Role Description & Responsibilities

• Seasoned knowledge of programming language:
• Primary Software Language: SQL
• Specific skills level: Moderate to Advanced SQL developer, able to write complex joins, subqueries, functions, stored procedures, set variables, dynamic SQL.
• Experience writing SQL queries to retrieve data to be used in reports & extracts and manipulate data (add, update, delete scripts).
• Secondary Software Language: C#
• Additional Software Experience: Crystal Report, Business Objects, Tableau, Logi Analytics or other Reporting Software is desirable.
• Ability to independently gather user requirements, writes specifications, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications.
• Experience interacting with external customers to define requirements and needs to support development activities.
• Is able to identify risks (both technical and timelines) to deliverables and raise for discussion and guidance in advance of them happening with respective stakeholders. With support from more senior team members provides solutions and alternative approaches to address risks
• Act as the primary technical resource and point of contact for the SQL development team.
• Provide technical assistance and mentoring to developers and junior team members.
• Guide the team in understanding requirements, writing specifications, and developing high-quality SQL code.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, development processes, and best practices across the team.
• Having seasoned experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
• Independently analyzes, designs, programs, and debugs solutions to customize software used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs to meet specific customer needs.
• Works on diverse scope issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
• Independently interacts with users (including external customers) to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
• Networks with key contacts within the delivery unit and outside their own area of expertise.
• Independently works within defined procedures and practices to help determine appropriate action.
• Ensure delivery of assigned tickets to timelines and quality, manage internal communications cross functionally with limited support required. Any risks to delivery are managed as required with limited support from Manager or Lead.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience/knowledge of MS-SQL database languages and concepts.
• Greater than 7 years’ experience knowledge of SQL programming language and technologies.
• Ability to independently gather user requirements, writes specifications, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications.
