About The Role
Xactly’s AI Labs is building the next generation of intelligent agents and AI-powered experiences across our Sales Performance Management suite. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist who will be the foundational DS member of the team in India. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys full ownership, and can translate high-level business goals into data-driven solutions with minimal supervision.
You will work directly with AI Labs leadership to convert 15+ years of incentive compensation, quota, and performance data into actionable insights, models, and features that power our AI agents (Plan Config Agent, Dispute Agent, Data Exploration Assistant, etc.). Your work will materially shape how Xactly customers perceive value from AI.
Build the insights layer for Xactly’s incentive data
- Analyze 15+ years of complex compensation, quota, attainment, and plan design data.
- Identify patterns, anomalies, risk indicators, and optimization opportunities.
- Create reusable features, metrics, benchmarks, and scoring signals for use across AI agents and product workflows.
Work as part of AI Labs to design AI-driven experiences
- Translate product requirements into concrete data science and ML problem statements.
- Prototype models and analytical frameworks that support use cases such as:
- Work closely with product, engineering, and design to turn prototypes into user-facing features.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model experimentation on large, noisy datasets.
- Define and implement data quality profiling and monitoring to ensure trustworthy insights.
- Build scalable frameworks and reusable components (feature libraries, scoring functions, benchmarks) that other teams can leverage.
- Collaborate with AI engineers to productionize models and insights with appropriate monitoring and retraining strategies.
Make data usable and understandable in the application
- Design interpretable, product-ready outputs such as scorecards, benchmarks, behavioral signals, pattern summaries, and risk indicators.
- Work with the Head of AI Labs and the AI architect ensure outputs can be surfaced in a way that makes sense to admins, comp analysts, finance leaders, and sellers.
- Provide clear documentation that explains how scores and insights are calculated, and what actions customers should take.
- Work autonomously with minimal direction and be comfortable setting your own plan and milestones.
- Drive clarity in ambiguous areas by proposing approaches, framing trade-offs, and suggesting MVP paths.
- Influence long-term data science strategy and help define the profile of future hires as we scale the AI Labs data team.
- 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science, applied ML, or advanced analytics.
- Proven ability to independently define problems, choose appropriate methods, and deliver measurable business impact.
- Strong experience with exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and statistical modeling.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn; PySpark or similar is a plus).
- Experience working with large historical datasets; exposure to time-series, forecasting, or behavioral modeling is preferred.
- Experience building interpretable scoring systems, risk models, or insights frameworks that are used by non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills: able to explain complex analysis in simple terms for product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
- Comfort operating as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, with minimal supervision.
- Experience in incentive compensation, HR analytics, sales analytics, or financial data is a plus but not required.
