Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and technically sound QC Engineer who brings in-depth knowledge of fabrication and quality processes. You will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end fabrication quality and ensuring strict compliance with industry codes and client specifications across all production stages.
Roles & Responsibilities
Fabrication & Welding Oversight
- Manage and supervise the entire fabrication process of:
- Pressure Vessels (ASME Section VIII)
- Heat Exchangers
- Storage Tanks (API 650 & ASME Section IX)
- Review fabrication drawings and verify alignment with job specifications and relevant standards.
- Ensure all welding processes comply with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs).
- Oversee fit-up inspections, welding sequences, dimensional checks, and material traceability.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain:
- Quality Assurance Plans (QAP)
- Inspection Test Plans (ITP)
- Daily quality reports
- Material and welder qualification records
- Ensure comprehensive documentation is available for internal audits, client review, and third-party approvals.
- Create final quality dossiers with all relevant certifications and inspection records.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) & Evaluation
- Execute and/or coordinate the following NDT methods:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Ensure all NDT activities are aligned with project standards and client requirements.
- Evaluate NDT results and liaise with third-party inspectors as required.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as the bridge between engineering, production, and client QC teams.
- Participate in quality reviews, technical clarifications, and on-site inspections.
- Assist with dispatch readiness, including painting inspection and final clearance.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a proactive and skilled QC Engineer who can ensure that every fabrication process reflects our commitment to excellence.
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 3–15 years of experience in fabrication and QA/QC roles in heavy engineering or Oil & Gas projects.
- Deep understanding of:
- Fabrication processes and material specifications
- Welding standards, techniques, and inspections
- ASME Section VIII, IX, and API 650 codes
- Certified in NDT Level II in UT, RT, MT, PT
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Projects, and MS Office.
- Experience in preparing and maintaining documentation like WPS, PQRs, QAPs, ITPs, and inspection logs.
- Strong communication and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Flexibility to travel to various project sites across India when required.
