Reports and Analytics Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Reports and Analytics Software Engineer to join our growing data team. This role is crucial in transforming raw data into actionable insights through the design, development, and maintenance of robust reporting and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong software engineering background combined with deep expertise in various Business Intelligence (BI) tools, enabling them to build, optimize, and scale our data visualization and reporting infrastructure. You will work closely with Product Owners, data engineers, business analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality, impactful data products.

In this opportunity as Reports and Analytics Software Engineer, you are a fit for this position if your background includes:

• Design & Development: Develop, test, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using a variety of BI tools (Jaspersoft, Looker).
• Data Modeling: Collaborate with data engineers to design and implement efficient data models (e.g., star schemas, snowflake schemas) optimized for reporting performance.
• ETL/ELT Integration: Assist in the development and optimization of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes to ensure data quality and availability for reporting.
• Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in reports, dashboards, and underlying data queries.
• Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements, prototype solutions, and deliver insights that meet business needs.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for reports, data sources, and development processes.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing and validation of reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing reporting solutions.
• Innovation: Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, new technologies, and trends in data visualization and analytics.
  
  
  

About you:

You're a fit for the role of Reports and Analytics Software Engineer if your background includes:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of hands-on professional experience in a data, reporting, or analytics engineering role.
• Proven development expertise with at least two (and ideally more) of the following Business Intelligence (BI) platforms:
• Tableau (Dashboard design, data source creation, advanced calculations)
• Microsoft Power BI (Report creation, DAX, data model optimization)
• JasperSoft (Report design, sub-reports, data source connectivity)
• Looker (LookML development, Explores, Dashboards)
• Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying, manipulation, and optimization.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT principles.
• Experience with data visualization best practices and user experience (UX) principles in dashboard design.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
