Senior Data Engineer (Fabric)

Summary Of The Position

This role supports with integration, development, maintenance and support for data within a newly implemented Fabric Data and Analytics Platform.

The engineer will work within our data engineering team with responsibility for Data and Insights solutions,delivering high quality data to the business to support our analytics capability.

The role needs a strong understanding of data structure, analysis, modelling, and management that will underpin a technical agenda and data roadmap. Working to design and develop improvements to the data platform primarily using Azure Data Factory but using all the tools in the Fabric toolbox.

Also providing insightful data across several business areas, the Sr Data Engineer will be at the forefront, delivering datasets and working hand-in hand with SME analysts to drive value.

Key Accountabilities

• Build and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes incorporating internal, 3rd party, and public domain data within a Medallion architecture.
• Work directly with stakeholders and SME analysts to gather requirements, deliver working POCs, design and develop data solutions
• Design and set data standards using MS Purview, in consultation with business and IT staff.
• Implement Data Warehouse schemas for analytics and reporting
• Deliver high quality datasets in a Kanban environment whilst ensuring solutions are clearly and usefully documented.
• Guide junior engineers through mentoring, code reviews, and architectural input.
  
  

Skills and Experience | Essential

• Extensive experience in Data Engineering within a Medallion Architecture.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Fabric tools: OneLake, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and Azure DevOps.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, architecture, and governance principles.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and solution design experience.
• Proven ability to lead data initiatives in Agile/Kanban environments.
• Microsoft certified Fabric DP-600 or DP-700 is big plus , plus any other relevant Azure Data certification is advantage

• MS Purview Data Governance
• Experience working with Agile methodologies (particularly Kanban).
• Exposure to or involvement in retail data analysis
• Exposure to Microsoft Retail Industry Data Model
