Job Title: Senior Java Backend Developer

Key skills: Java 17/21, Spring boot, Microservices, CI/CD, Docker

Location – Pune/ Chennai

(Hybrid - 3 days WFO - Tues, Wed, Thurs)

Shift Timings: 12:30pm-9:30pm

As a Backend Engineer at Capco, you will play a key role in designing and developing robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions for our clients in the financial sector. You will actively contribute to the implementation of complex technical solutions, participate in defining system architectures, and drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering...

As a Backend Engineer Lead within Capco's delivery teams for our clients, your responsibilities will include :

• Designing, developing, and maintaining robust, secure, and well-tested backend services in distributed environments (microservices, cloud).
• Participating in the definition of the technical architecture of solutions, in close collaboration with Tech Leads and Architects.
• Implementing solutions that adhere to software engineering standards (Clean Code, SOLID, TDD, CI/CD).
• Contributing to continuous code improvement through code reviews, refactoring, and reduction of technical debt.
• Taking part in agile ceremonies (Daily, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives) and collaborating regularly with business stakeholders and other technical teams.
• Engaging in technology watch and knowledge sharing within the team (internal workshops, tech talks, brown bag lunches, etc.).

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS

• Professional ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in backend development on complex systems with high performance and reliability requirements.
• Proven experience in agile delivery, with hands-on practice of agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) within complex project environments.
• Participation in critical projects in the financial sector (banking, insurance, asset management) or within regulated environments (a valued plus).

Technical skillsStrong command of Java and related frameworks: Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring Security, Spring Data/JPA.

• Solid understanding of software design best practices: Clean Architecture, tactical DDD, design patterns, code modularity.
• Experience in JPA usage and optimization of data access performance.
• Good knowledge of distributed architectures, REST APIs, error handling, and service resilience.
• Proficient with Docker and Kubernetes, and understanding of cloud deployment principles (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with continuous integration and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).

• Excellent team spirit, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary environments.
• Keen interest in knowledge sharing and a mindset focused on continuous improvement.

• Fluent in English
