About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer with deep expertise in data visualization to join our team. This role focuses on creating sophisticated, performant visualizations for large-scale datasets while maintaining exceptional user experience and brand consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom data visualizations for large, complex datasets
- Build interactive charts and dashboards using modern JavaScript and Python visualization libraries
- Optimize visualization performance for datasets with millions of data points
- Extend and customize existing charting libraries to meet specific business requirements
- Create bespoke visualization solutions when standard libraries don't meet needs
- Ensure all visualizations align with brand guidelines and provide professional, polished user experiences
- Collaborate with product and design teams to translate business requirements into effective visual representations
- Implement responsive visualizations that work seamlessly across devices and screen sizes
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
- JavaScript Libraries: Advanced proficiency in Plotly.js, D3.js, Highcharts, and other modern visualization frameworks
- Python Libraries: Strong experience with Plotly, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Bokeh, or similar tools
- Performance Optimization: Proven experience handling and visualizing large datasets (100k+ data points)
- Customization: Ability to extend library APIs, modify chart behaviors, and create custom chart types
- Front-end Development: Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills with modern frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular)
Design & UX
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles specific to data visualization
- Experience creating professional, brand-consistent visual designs
- Knowledge of color theory, typography, and visual hierarchy
- Ability to make data accessible and understandable to diverse audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with WebGL-based visualization libraries for high-performance rendering
- Knowledge of data visualization best practices and principles
- Portfolio demonstrating custom visualization work and large dataset handling
- Experience in financial services, analytics platforms, or data-intensive applications
- Familiarity with backend technologies and APIs for data delivery
- Understanding of accessibility standards for data visualizations
