Software Developer - VB6, SQL

Grapes Innovative Solutions is in search of an enthusiastic software developer to join our development team. The primary responsibility will be to support, maintain, and enhance our existing Visual Basic 6 (VB6) based Hospital Management System. This is a critical product used across healthcare facilities, featuring modules such as Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Human Resources (HR), Accounts, and more.

The selected candidate will be trained and mentored by our senior developers. Over time, you will take ownership of specific modules and contribute to feature updates, bug fixes, and long-term maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand and maintain legacy VB6 codebases.
• Assist in debugging and resolving issues reported by users.
• Make modifications and improvements based on user or management feedback.
• Collaborate with the team lead and other departments (support) for development and deployment.
• Write clear, maintainable code and document changes.
• Work on data handling and reporting using SQL Server.
• Ensure data integrity and security in the application workflow.

Required Skills:

• Basic programming knowledge in Visual Basic (VB6) or any event-driven language (e.g., VB.NET).
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server – SQL queries, joins, and data types.
• Understanding of Git version control – cloning repositories, committing changes, and working with branches in a team environment.
• Understanding of Windows desktop applications and UI elements.
• Logical thinking and debugging ability.
• Willingness to work with legacy code and learn system-specific workflows.
• Good communication skills to understand and explain technical issues.

Preferred (Not Mandatory):

• Academic or hobby experience in building Windows Forms applications.
• Familiarity with any hospital-related workflows or terminology (EMR, LIS, PACS etc.).
• Exposure to software testing or quality assurance practices.
