Job Description Summary:

Assembler Developer – z/OS Security Product

Position Reports to: Director, Software Engineering

Job Overview:

We are seeking an Assembler Developer to join our team working on a cutting-edge z/OS security product. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in assembler programming, a working knowledge of REXX, and a background in z/OS mainframe systems programming. This role requires adaptability to our agile work environment and a commitment to learning and implementing Rocket’s methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance assembler code within a secure z/OS environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile work setting to meet project deadlines.
• Follow established guidelines and directions while adapting to new technologies and processes.
• Utilize JCL, utilities, and ISPF effectively to support mainframe operations.
• Contribute to improving product security through continuous learning and application of best practices.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in assembler programming on z/OS systems.
• Basic to intermediate REXX knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with z/OS mainframe systems programming.
• Familiarity with agile work methodologies and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent understanding of JCL, related utilities, and ISPF.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to Rocket’s way of doing things.
• Strong attention to detail and the capacity to follow precise directions.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Able to present a track record of software development in the real world.
• Mastery of one or more programming languages.
• Excellent code designing skills.
• Experience in agile development methodology
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Writes code faster than the average developer.
• Outstanding quality with few bugs in generated code.
• Experience with project management tools such Jira
  
  

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
