General Summary:
We are looking for a Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) to join our team and contribute to key business-critical platforms. The ideal candidate will bring strong backend engineering experience, a deep understanding of scalable systems, and a passion for building and maintaining data-driven applications.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services using Ruby on Rails- Build, monitor, and optimize background processing systems using tools like Sidekiq, ensuring reliability at scale
- Design and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and enrichment pipelines integrated with Rails services
- Experience building REST APIs and microservices architectures
- Integrate and maintain search and indexing solutions such as Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
- Deploy, monitor, and operate applications on cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
- Participate in system design discussions, peer code reviews, production debugging, and performance tuning
- Collaborate closely with product, data, and platform teams to deliver reliable and extensible solutions
Qualifications:
3+ years of software development experience, with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails- Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale, production-grade Rails applications
- Strong understanding of databases and data modelling (PostgreSQL; experience with large datasets is a plus)
- Hands-on experience with background job systems (Sidekiq preferred) and distributed processing
- Experience working with Redis, caching strategies, and message queues
- Strong exposure to Elasticsearch or similar search technologies
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and deploying/operating services in the cloud
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with high-volume data platforms
- Familiarity with PySpark, or data orchestration frameworks
- Experience migrating or modernizing legacy Rails systems (e.g., Rails 6 7)
- Exposure to observability tools (Prometheus, ELK stack, etc.)
