Role - Linux Administrator- Primary skills - Linux Admin with Chef & Terraform

Job Description: Linux Administrator with Chef and Terraform Expertise
- Position Overview:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Linux Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Monitor system performance, ensure uptime, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Apply kernel updates, security patches, and system enhancements following best practices.
- Manage file systems, user permissions, and system backups.
Configuration Management with Chef:
- Develop and maintain Chef cookbooks, recipes, and roles for configuration management.
- Deploy and manage applications using Chef for automated provisioning.
- Troubleshoot issues in the Chef environment, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Collaborate with developers to define infrastructure as code and automate deployment pipelines.
Infrastructure as Code with Terraform:
- Use Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure across cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Create reusable and scalable Terraform modules to simplify deployments.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues and maintain Terraform state files.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and automate routine tasks using Terraform.
System Monitoring and Support:
- Implement monitoring solutions for system health, performance, and availability (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, or equivalent).
- Respond to support tickets, analyze logs, and provide solutions for critical incidents.
- Ensure proper documentation of all troubleshooting steps and solutions.
Collaboration and Documentation:
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve deployment processes and system reliability.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and infrastructure.
- Provide training and knowledge sharing to other team members.
Key Requirements:
Technical Skills:
- Linux Expertise: Strong experience with Linux server environments (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Chef: Proven experience in writing Chef recipes, cookbooks, and managing Chef servers.
- Terraform: Proficient in using Terraform to define and deploy infrastructure as code.
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Scripting: Proficiency in Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages for automation.
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git for code collaboration and versioning.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
- Basic understanding of networking and security principles.
- Familiarity with Ansible or Puppet as complementary configuration tools.
