Sr. IT Engineer (Chef)

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strong background in Linux / Windows
• Experience with automation/configuration management using Chef, Puppet, Ansible
• Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services
• A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
• Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
• Experience in system automation, orchestration, deployment, and implementation
• Strong critical thinker with problem solving aptitude
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash and Python (3-5 years): Preferable: Ruby
• Experience designing and building CI/CD pipelines (3-5 years).
• Hands-on tools experience with Atlassian tool suite, Antifactory, Octopus Deploy and SonarQube (3-5 years) and CI tools like Jenkin and Bamboo
• Hands-on technical practitioner and individual contributor
• Knowledge\Experience with seamless/automation build scripts used for release management across all environments
• Experience in working with open source and commercial CI & CD tools
• Excellent presentation, analytical, and interpersonal skills with attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to focus on details and develop workable, repeatable processes
• Leading & driving global Automation strategy for the Organization
• Managing Infra support & configuration of different SCM and Automation tools preferably Chef, Puppet
• Drives standardization of the automation processes across the organization
• Follow and evangelize enterprise standards to ensure high quality automated environment.
• Influence other teams and broader Engineering groups in adopting DevOps best practices leveraging Chef/Puppet/Ansible
• Identify reoccurring issues and work with IT & Business partners to remediate using the problem management process
• Actively engages with key customers, stakeholders and cross functional teams to achieve business objectives
• A change agent and a practitioner of organizational initiatives. Responsible for grooming ‘Technical Capabilities’ in the team and retain the core and niche skills.
• Anticipates industry trends. Contributes to enhancing Honeywell's sustainable competitive advantage.
