Sr Software Engineer

What you will do

Open Blue Edge Computing Platform group is playing a key part in realizing the promise of our digital transformation initiative – Open Blue. This group focuses on technologies like edge computing, smart solutions and running ML Model at the edge with constrained resources in the most optimized way.

Sr. Software Engineer position will focus on leading technical exploration/ innovation, design and development of new features/components and maintenance and stewardship of Open Blue Edge Platform. This position needs to be very hands-on with various backend development technologies, deployment technologies and execution management/monitoring technologies. As an experienced technical member of the team, a person in this position is also expected to lead a team of engineers to design and develop robust system solutions that meet defined system requirements.

How you will do it

• Good verbal and written communication in English Language with an ability to express and understand complex technical concepts
• Drive design and code reviews/inspections. Help correct existing coding standards and/or define improves one.
• Drive technical discussions; propose solutions and alternatives. Interact with Architects and other Sr members of the team to ensure that solution fits with overall architecture.
• Develop software according to functional and technical design specifications.
• Analyzing, troubleshooting, and providing code fixes for reported problems and change requests.
• Developing proof-of-concept prototypes; Providing work estimates
• Aid testers and support personnel as needed to determine system problems
• Should have can do attitude and initiative to start and complete the assigned activities.

Information Security Responsibilities

• Adhere to JCI policies, guidelines and procedures pertaining to the protection of information assets.
• Adhere to JCI product security standards and guidelines for secured software product development.
• The software, licenses, shall be deployed and used only in accordance with JCI licensing agreements.
• Unless provided in the applicable license, notice, or agreement, copyrighted software shall not be duplicated, except for backup and archival purposes.
• Any software acquired illegally or without a valid license shall not be deployed or used. Copying third-party materials without an appropriate license is prohibited.
• The employees, contractors or third-party personnel shall not copy, extract or reproduce in any way, copyrighted material from the Internet on information systems provided by organization, other than permitted by copyright law.
• Implement appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information assets.
• All employees, contractors and third parties shall be responsible to report all information security incidents, alerts, warnings and suspected vulnerabilities, in a timely manner, and share such information only with authorized personnel

What we look for

Required

• Qualification - B.Tech. or M.Tech. in Computer Science
• Must have experience between 6-10 years in software product development
• Must be able to perform in an individual contributor role and must be willing to step-up in the role of hands-on technical lead as required.
• Expert level coding skills in C++ 11/14
• Must have some development experience on some protocols or exposure to any networking products
• Must be well versed with concepts and practice of multi-threading, socket communication, STL, Design Patterns, Data Structure, OOPS etc
• Minimum 4+ years of work experience on C/C++
• Minimum 3+ years of work experience on Linux platform with excellent understanding of Linux internals.
• Hands-on experience with Android (Java/Kotlin) and/or iOS (Swift/Objective-C) application development
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, MVC, Clean Architecture)
• Experience with mobile app lifecycle, memory management, performance optimization, and debugging
• Strong understanding of API design, contract definition, and versioning
• Experience designing or consuming mobile SDKs for platform capabilities
• Familiarity with real-time data synchronization and offline-first architectures
• Ability to optimize mobile apps for: Low latency communication with edge systems, Battery efficiency, Network variability / intermittent connectivity
• Experience troubleshooting end-to-end issues across mobile, network, and backend layers
• Security
• Knowledge of mobile security best practices: Secure storage (Keychain/Keystore), Data encryption in transit and at rest, Authentication protocols (OAuth2, JWT, certificate-based auth)
• Experience with: Android Studio / Xcode, Debugging and profiling tools
• Familiarity with: Unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Espresso, XCTest), CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps
• Experience with app release management (Play Store / App Store processes)
• Experience and knowledge of GITHUB, Scrum methodology, etc.
• Experience developing using AI tools like Co-Pilot, Claude, Anthropic etc.
• Experience of working with globally distributed teams.
• Experience in working with network security products
• Knowledge of TCP/IP stack
