Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Staff Firmware Test Engineer, Bluetooth to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for leading a team of Engineers validating the of Bluetooth Controller protocols. And provide technical support as well as involve in customer new features, develop required test plans and automate the test cases. This position reports to the Director, R&D Software Quality Engineering.

Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties

• Independently perform the test design and execution of Test plans
• Lead project teams (5-7 Engineers) to technically guide and support them driving the Programs
• Lab setup and test environment bring-up including necessary tools/equipment
• Capture, analysis of Bluetooth Sniffer logs – BPA600/Ellisys, HCI snoop, source code debug logs and help to minimize root cause analysis
• Active contribution to automation framework
• Interact with customers and customer support team
• Participate in technical discussion with development team
• Follow the software testing life cycle

Competencies

• Good understanding of audio quality testing, PESQ/MOS standards, Audio NB/WB codecs
• Thorough understanding and working knowledge of Bluetooth BR/EDR/BLE protocol specifications – 4.2, 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 profiles specification
• Excellent debugging, analytical, and troubleshooting skills and able to make informed decisions based on experience and data to improve processes and evaluate design options
• Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Well organized and flexible to balance multiple projects/products under aggressive project schedules in a dynamic environment
• Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
• Resourceful and able to solve problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
• Strong team player with the ability to work within a diverse team and willingness to share knowledge
• Good verbal and written communication skills, in English

Qualifications (Requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunication, or Computer-Science or related field or equivalent
• 8+ years of experience performing automated and manual testing of BT/BLE Controller running on SoCs
• 3+ years of experience leading small project teams providing technical guidance and mentoring
• Hands-on experience with various certification tests, test procedure and test equipment
• Working knowledge of any scripting language, preferably python
• Thorough knowledge of various types of testing including performance, stress, load and inter-operability testing
• Working experience with logic analyzers, simulators, RF signal generators, compliance tools
• Prior working experience with BRCM BT solutions is desirable
• Must be able to travel outside India up to 10%
